Dr. Donalyn Heise’s research focuses on the role of art for fostering resilience in underserved populations and art teacher preparation. Current empirical research examines resilience theory and social contexts of at-risk populations. Her work is represented in scholarly publications such as Studies in Art Education, Journal of Social Theory in Art Education, Art Education and Journal of Social Distress and The Homeless. She has presented her research at local, state, national and international conferences, including Beijing Normal University and University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica.
